Our History
2023
N2N celebrates 10 years of service in St. George!
2022
In 2022, St George Neighbor to Neighbor provided 262 total rides and deliveries.
2021
After a tough year complicated by covid restrictions, we are proud to note that St. George Neighbor to Neighbor provided 342 rides for our neighbors.
2020
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, N2N suspends in-person rides for 4 months. Drivers begin delivering groceries and medicines. The organization creates new protocols for safe transportation of riders and provides PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for all drivers and riders when rides resume in August. Despite COVID’s challenges, we provide 261 rides and deliveries in 2020.
2019
Growing Ridership & Hired First Employee
N2N hires its first paid employee, a dispatcher to handle increasing requests for 591 rides.
2018
RIDERSHIP INCREASES 25%
2015-2017
N2N is certified as a non-profit corporation in the State of Maine. Organizational bylaws are accepted by board vote and the Operations Committee creates policies and procedures for the organization. IRS certifies N2N as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
2014
With 30 registered drivers, N2N provides 123 rides throughout the year.
2013
In March, N2N provides its first ride. St. George citizens approve an allocation of town funds to support the program. Donations from the St. George Community Group and other generous neighbors provide additional support.
2012
A group of St. George neighbors meets to discuss how to provide assistance to St. George senior residents and others. They identify transportation as the first critical need. The ideas are presented at a public meeting in May. Trish Barnes and Rosemary Limmen create a logo and create and distribute N2N promotional materials.
