Our History
2012
A group of St. George neighbors meets to discuss how to provide assistance to St. George senior residents and others. They identify transportation as the first critical need. The ideas are presented at a public meeting in May. Trish Barnes and Rosemary Limmen create a logo and create and distribute N2N promotional materials.
2014
With 30 registered drivers, N2N provides 123 rides throughout the year.
2018
RIDERSHIP INCREASES 25%
2020
Drivers begin delivering groceries and medicines. The organization will create new protocols for the safe transportation of riders and provide PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to all drivers and riders when rides resume in August. Despite COVID’s challenges, we provided 261 rides and deliveries in 2020.
2022
In 2022, St George Neighbor to Neighbor provided 262 total rides and deliveries.
2024
With a grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, we hosted our first Taste of St. George fundraiser. Maine Community Foundation awarded us a grant for general support of the organization. First year of Business Sponsors.
2013
In March, N2N provides its first ride. St. George citizens approve an allocation of town funds to support the program. Donations from the St. George Community Group and other generous neighbors provide additional support.
2015-2017
N2N is certified as a non-profit corporation in the State of Maine. Organizational bylaws are accepted by board vote and the Operations Committee creates policies and procedures for the organization. IRS certifies N2N as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
2019
Growing Ridership & Hired First Employee
N2N hires its first paid employee, a dispatcher to handle increasing requests for 591 rides.
2021
We received a grant from Maine Community Foundation for general support and an outreach program during Covid. We are proud to note that St. George Neighbor to Neighbor provided 342 rides for our neighbors.
2023
N2N celebrates 10 years of service in St. George!
2025
At Taste of St. George Encore, we received a grant of $1100 from 100+ Women and presented the first Dianne Oelberger Driver of the Year Award to Jenny Maltais for taking the most rides in 2024.
